Amber Nicole Suppan
Biomedical Illustrator and Interactive Artist

Thanks for being interested in my work. I hope you like what you have seen here. I just updated my web page to this new one to help me find a job.
I will be graduating from the Cleveland Institute of Art with a BFA in Biomedical Art. I have concentrated my studies on all things that involve code, because that is what I like to do. I discovered this about a year and six months ago. I never thought I would be the artist to learn to like the web, because, in fact, I hated computers. Times changed, the department got a new head, Amanda Almon, and I learned how to use computers to my advantage. Then, in the spring of 2008 I took a little web class that Amanda suggested all of us in the major take, and ended up loving it. I developed the site that was here before this one.
After that, I took every class to do with web that I possibly could. I learned how to code in AS3 and Processing. I discovered it was not necessarily web that I enjoyed, but the actual workings of code. This probably sprang from my interaction with engineers. My fiancé is one, my mother is one, my grandfather is one…. And then the two physicists in my family… I guess it was inevitable. I am currently learning Arduino, which is a physical computing language and environment (not to mention the nerdy and fun community) as well as JavaScript. I find languages fun and challenging. I hope to learn more of them, such as the “serious” ones like C++ and the like. That will come. But for now, I am looking for a job that utilizes both my illustration and code skills.
The site you are looking at now is meant to show I can utilize CSS, HTML, and JavaScript and that I can illustrate. I hope to update this news portion at least once a week so anyone who wants to know what I am working on can. We will see how it goes.
